Thyroid Diseases
Dogs have thyroid gland, too. The hormones produced by this endocrine gland is important manage some of the body’s metabolic
processes. If there is a problem, your dog can be have lethargy, weight gain,
dull coat, dry or greasy skin, hair loss, reproductive problems and aggression.
Some dogs do not show clinical signs of disease, but still have an under-active
thyroid gland.
To test for thyroid disease, your veterinarian draws blood from a healthy dog and sends it to a laboratory. The results will reveal any abnormality that can be treated with hormone supplements such as levothyroxine twice daily. Follow up blood tests are recommended after 4-8 weeks to monitor progress. Then, routine check up would be every 6-12 months.

DOG AND HUMAN YEARS COMPARISON
Sharp Puppy Teeth
Because it is not advisable to remove puppy teeth, you should be careful in handling these sharp ones while feeding or playing with your pets.
Remember that it is just a temporary set of teeth that will be replaced by permanent ones starting three months of age.
You can also give big dog bones that can dull the tips of the teeth while giving them a source of fun and exercise.

Music Therapy?
This is just new in the field of veterinary care called psychoacoustics that has been clinically demonstrated to have
profound effects on our dogs.
Music therapy essentially uses recordings to influence things like physical response, emotional wellbeing, and cognitive function. First discovered by Dr. Alfred Tomatis, the power of sound was declared nutrient for the nervous system.
This is important when our dogs experience stress and limit the amount of auditory stimulation reaching their nervous system. Simple sound can be introduced or the kind of music that is less intricate in tempo, volume and pattern. Dogs can listen to it on a passive level, with less instruments (like solo piano) and avoiding over stimulation. Natural principles of tone and rhythm are also applied to each composition. Lower tones tend to discharge the nervous system. Additionally, the natural process of rhythm dictates that heartbeat, breath and brainwaves will speed up or slow down to match external rhythms; the slower beats of the music will influence relaxation.
